Where do classes meet?
We have classes at the Townley Community Center (formerly Townley School) in the old lunchroom, which is the small building that sits to the right of the gymnasium. The school is only a 14 min drive from Guthries Chicken in Jasper if you go straight up Highway 78 and get on the corridor.
We have a great classroom area complete with a kitchen & bathroom, and meeting here allows other siblings who are not in class to be able to play in the gym, or outside on the playground, while we are having class. (Caregivers must be with their kids at all times in these designated areas only.)
How long does class last?
Each class is a little different depending on the content being covered that day, but typically classes range between 1-1.5 hours.
Do I have to do anything? Is there homework?
You will need access to our private Facebook page, as this is where I will post important class information as well as photos taken in class. There may also be assigned class projects you will need to help your child work on at home, depending on the class.
What can expect my child to do in class?
I work diligently to ensure every class engages students through audio, visual, and hands-on learning, with every lesson infused with ENTHUSIASM!
Children can expect to experience group interaction, artistic expression and have opportunities to share their ideas and knowledge thru discussion and presentations. We honor one another thru respect, encouragement and teamwork, and I work to challenge children to question, examine, and reflect. The goal of every lesson is for students to leave with newfound knowledge and a heightened curiosity and excitement to continue exploring on their own.
Can I drop my kids off?
No. Parents or a guardian must stay on site during the entire class session. The room where we meet is large, so you are welcome to sit at the back and quietly observe, wait out in your vehicle, or take other siblings into the gym or playground area if we have access to them those days. There are some basketballs available to use but no one is allowed on the stage or in any rooms other than the ball/equipment room.
